IMPERIUM ARTS HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS

Since 1985, Imperium Ancient Arts has offered a wide variety of affordable, authentic ancient art and artifacts from around the world. We have available such items as Egyptian statues and amulets from the time of the Pharaohs, pottery and coins from ancient Rome and Greece, Celtic bronze items, and also artifacts from the ancient Near East, Byzantine and Medieval Europe, Mesoamerica and Asia.

We believe that the study and preservation of history is important. We also feel that history is more meaningful when you can own and help conserve a part of it. Each piece that we offer is history that you can hold in your hand... a link between times past and the world of today.

All of our items are guaranteed to be completely genuine - they are not modern reproductions. It is not widely known that ancient artifacts are commonly available to the public, but there are many more ancient items than museums or other institutions can store. There are many fine types of artifacts that are available for private collectors. It is possible for anyone to own authentic objects of ancient art!

Where do our ancient items come from? When professional archaeological digs are done, all the items are scientifically mapped and catalogued. Once that scientific process is over, something must be done with all the excavated pieces. The best artifacts go to museums or universities for display, research and conservation. That still leaves many common or incomplete archaeological pieces which are not wanted by institutions. Those ancient items are eventually disbursed to help fund new archaeological digs and research. In this way private individuals can directly help explore and preserve history.

The ancient items here have been disbursed from the recoveries of professional archaeological digs done by universities and other scientific institutions. Those excavations have provided all possible historical information; these are the remaining items not reserved for research and public display.

Imperium Ancient Arts guarantees all our items to be genuine ancient. Each of our artifacts comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, verifying its age and place of origin. We also supply detail about each item's history as it is known. The authenticity of our artifacts may be evaluated at any museum, university, or art gallery familiar with antiquities.

In addition to Internet sales and sales at public events, Imperium Arts maintains a public gallery at Will's Copy Center 30 York Street, Kennebunk, ME 04043, 207-985-1847. You can view ancient artifacts and coins there from 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, and 9 to Noon on Saturdays. Stop in and see us!
